Carlos Hernandez (born
January 23,
1971) is a
boxer. He made
boxing history by becoming the
IBF world Jr. Lightweight champion by beating
David Santos[?] for that organization's vacant belt. Hernandez then became
El Salvador's first world boxing champion in history. Hernandez counted in that fight with the backing up of
Alexis Arguello,
Roberto Duran and the Salvadorean President, all of whom were at ringside cheering for him.
Hernandez, who moved to the United States in 1991 to reach his goal of becoming a champion, has a record of 38 wins, 3 losses and one draw with 23 knockouts. In previous world title tries, he hd lost a decision in 12 to Genaro Chicanito Herandez[?] and to Floyd Mayweather[?].
