Chimay is a
municipality located in the
Belgian province of
Hainaut. On January 1st, 2002 Chimay had a total population of 9,867 (4,805 males and 5,062 females). The total area is 198.19
km² which gives a
population density of 49.79 inhabitants per km².
It is well known internationlly for the distinctive (and very expensive) beer of the same name which was originally produced in the monastery in the town.
