Humble Pie was a
hard rock band, formed in
1969 by
Steve Marriott[?] (of
the Small Faces),
Peter Frampton,
Greg Ridley[?] (of the
Spooky Tooth[?]) and
Jerry Shirley[?]. Their debut single was "Natural Born Boogie", a British hit, which was followed by
As Safe As Yesterday Is[?]. Personnel problems and label disputes kept the band from achieving massive success, and Frampton left the band in
1971 to begin a solo career.
With Dave Clempson[?] replacing Frampton, Humble Pie moved towards an even harder sound but was still unable to break into the mainstream. Constant shifts in line-up prevented the band from realizing its full potential, though they continued recording and performing for some time.
