Interstate 96 is a US
Interstate highway entirely within the state of
Michigan. Its western end is at US-31 in
Muskegon, and its eastern end is at
Interstate 75 at the
Ambassador Bridge in
Detroit.

I-96 is an intrastate interstate. It is primarily used as a intra-city highway within Detroit, connecting downtown Detroit to the western townships and to Michigan's capital, Lansing.
I-696[?] is the newest freeway addition to the Detroit area, branching off of I-96 northwest of the city.
