Mongolian blue spot

Babies of several ethnic groups are born with blue spots on the lower parts of their backs, called Mongolian blue spot. This is true for all Koreans and Mongolians, and many Japanese. The spots appear in most Asian ethnicities, as well as some Turks, Greeks, Africans, Eskimos, Native Americans, and beyond.

The spot can be one or several. It appears on the lower back, near the tail bone. It's a birthmark that often looks like a bruise[?]. The birthmark disappears within a few years. The spot is due to a generic marker that is traced back to the Mongolians.
