Persuasion

Persuasion is the process of convincing someone to believe or act on something - when it is coercive, it is called coercion. Application of persuasion technology became widespread in the 1990s, and continues to expand, a process which many consider to be inherently coercive and abusive.

Persuasion is the last novel Jane Austen wrote, and generally considered the most romantic. Anne Elliott has been persuaded to reject Captain Wentworth, the love of her life, because of his poverty and poor prospects. Some years later he returns into her life and gradually their love reasserts itself. A simple story, perhaps, but deeply moving and very funny.
