Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers or
SMPTE (pronounced "simptee" or sometimes "sumptee") is a professional association of
engineers. They describe standards for media, publish a journal, find jobs for members and etc.
Significant standards for which they hold the copyright include:
- All film and television transmission formats and media, including digital.
- The SMPTE time code
- MXF
