Sophie Wilson, sometimes incorrectly/formerly referred to as
Roger, is a
British computer scientist. In
1981 she developed
BBC BASIC for the
BBC Microcomputer, a microcomputer that enabled
Acorn, Ltd to win a contract with the
British Broadcasting Corporation. In
1983 she developed one of the first
RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) processor, the
Acorn RISC Machine (ARM).
