Formed by
Lux Interior[?] and
Poison Ivy (a contraction of her original stagename, "Poison Ivy Rorschach")in the late
1970s, the Cramps mixed
punk rock with early
rockabilly and sixties
garage rock to create a style of music that became very influential. They are credited with coining the term "
psychobilly" although both Lux Interior and Poison Ivy are adamant that this does not accurately reflect their style of play.
