The Day The Music Died

Redirected from The day the music died

The Day The Music Died is the title given to February 3, 1959. On the night of February 2, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper (J. P. Richardson) were killed when the plane they were on crashed en route to a gig in Fargo, North Dakota. Most people heard the news the next day, and so February 3 was given the title.

Don McLean's famous song, "American Pie", contains many references to this day.
