Ulster Television

Ulster Television plc is the ITV contractor for Northern Ireland. It is one only two stand-alone ITV contractors left, the others forming groupings such as Carlton, Granada, and SMG[?]. Since June 4, 1993, Ulster Television has been known on-air as simply UTV, and off air is now referred to as UTV Group. UTV's main programmes are "UTV Live", "Insight", "Kelly", "School Around the Corner", and "Lesser Spotted Ulster". UTV is also available in the Republic of Ireland on cable and MMDS systems.

Since 2002 UTV has been available to the whole of the United Kingdom via the Sky Digital system, although viewers outside Northern Ireland may have to tune it in manually and add it to their receivers' "Additional Channels" menu, rather than simply punching in a channel number.

UTV is notable for being the last ITV company to use on-screen continuity announcers, a once-common practice that was discontinued by most other stations in the 1980s.

UTV also owns three Republic of Ireland independent local radio contractors - Lite FM in Dublin, 96FM County Sound in Cork, and Live 95FM in Limerick. It also owns the internet service provider UTV Internet.
