Westwood is a town located in Lassen County, California. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,998.

Geography

Westwood is located at 40°18'18" North, 121°0'12" West (40.305038, -121.003396)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 14.3 km² (5.5 mi²). 14.3 km² (5.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.36% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,998 people, 795 households, and 520 families residing in the town. The population density is 140.0/km² (362.5/mi²). There are 1,048 housing units at an average density of 73.4/km² (190.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 88.39% White, 0.00% African American, 5.26% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.55% Pacific Islander, 2.70% from other races, and 2.85% from two or more races. 8.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 795 households out of which 36.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.4% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 28.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.10.

In the town the population is spread out with 31.4% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.8 males.
