Wings (band)

Wings, a pop-oriented, mildly successful band led by Paul McCartney, formed after the dissolution of the Beatles. McCartney at first recorded only under his own name, then began using the name "Wings". When singles issued received little airplay by radio stations, he then began using the name "Paul McCartney and Wings".

The band name came to McCartney as he was praying in the hospital when wife Linda was giving birth.

Band members included Denny Laine[?] (formerly of the Moody Blues), Joe English[?], Jimmy McCulloch[?], Henry McCullough[?] (formerly of the Grease Band[?]), Denny Seiwell[?], Geoff Britton[?], and Linda McCartney.

The band fell apart after the death of John Lennon in 1980. McCartney subsequently refused to tour the next year, and Laine left the band.
